Penshurst Place and Gardens
Penshurst Place and Gardens is a privately-owned countryside manor house, surrounded by 11 acres of formal gardens, and a wider 2,500 acre estate.
Penshurst Place has been standing since 1341 when the incredible Baron's Hall was completed. Still standing today, it is one of few surviving medieval halls in England. Complimented by a further collection of Elizabethan staterooms, 11 acres of formal gardens, an adventure playground, gift shop, plant centre and expansive cafe, Penshurst Place sits within 2,500 acres of private parkland which is open to visitors year round, whilst the main house, gardens and grounds are open from Easter until the end of the October half term.
During this open season, visitors can enjoy 11 distinct garden rooms and their individual design, flora and fauna, as heady scents sweep the historic gardens that were first laid out in the 1560s. Today seasonal highlights include the spring Daffodil displays, the 100 metre long Peony Border, the hot-to-cool coloured beds of the Jubilee Walk, and the incredible design of the Union Flag Garden.
Owned by the Sidney family since 1552, Penshurst Place has a long history of hosting incredible events. Today, the house and wider estate are available for private bookings and events, hosting everything from romantic weddings, quad biking tours, private dining, and in the parkland popular shows and event such as the Weald of Kent Country Craft Fair, and Volks Weald classic Volkswagen show.
