Salters Heath Business Centre is located in the Sevenoaks district, within the stunning Kent Downs, offering a unique blend of modern office space on the historic Montreal Estate. Managed by Jules Green, who has lived in the district for over 25 years, the 2,500-acre estate also includes arable and livestock farming, woodland and residential properties.
Sue Green, wife of Jules, recalls how the journey began when they purchased a rundown but pretty farm in the district that had a timber framed barn with planning permission. “So, we ended up improving the farm and bringing it into the 21st century, and we now live in the barn” she shares. This successful venture led to the purchase of the Montreal Estate, where the couple and their team started to diversify, with the development of Salters Heath Business Centre.
Situated close to the A21, Salters Heath Business Centre offers modern office spaces within close proximity to Sevenoaks’ high street. “We were very grateful we got planning permission first time round in 2018.” She adds, “A lot of people said, ‘I’m surprised it hasn’t been done earlier!” Recognising an opportunity to create a local business hub, Jules envisaged a place where people could gather and work. The construction began during lockdown, embracing the estate’s agricultural history while building a forward-thinking space for businesses.
With over 10,000 square feet of office space, Salters Heath Business Centre includes electric car charging points, baby changing units and showers in every office, and super-fast fibre broadband with many units being designed to accommodate people with disabilities.
Emphasising the estate’s sustainable practices, Sue explains that the offices are BREEAM rated as ‘VERY GOOD’ and have EPCs of A; “We manage the woodland sustainably, and the wood we produce from thinning the trees goes on to fuel local businesses, schools, and hospitals.”
She also highlights the unique qualities of the Sevenoaks district, which combines a city-driven workforce with a strong rural community; “What’s amazing about the district is not only have you got people that work in the city, but you’ve also got a rural community who also work really hard,” she notes. “It is important for both communities to support each other”.
Sue appreciates Sevenoaks’ small communities, villages, and pubs, as well as its proximity to London. She adds that the district is an ideal place to visit National Trust properties – with the likes of Knole House, Emmett’s Garden and Chartwell within the district.
“Living and working in the Sevenoaks area is a privilege, she reflects. “The district is a fantastic place to live and work, and we’re proud to be contributing to the community.”
Salters Heath Business Centre continues to grow as a cornerstone of the local community, offering both modern facilities and the charm of the countryside.
